I hope you have spent some of your summer reading books, practicing your math facts and exploring the world around you. I hope you have played hard and spent time with people you care about. I also hope you have been thinking about all the ways to be a good friend and things you may want to learn about third grade this year..
I have been going to a lot of trainings to help make this a successful year for everyone. Our class will have one-one ipads. That means each student in our class will be given an ipad to use for math and reading. We will also be writing on the ipad and researching new information. Each of you will be given an email address for submitting assignments. This is a very exciting time in our school. I plan on teaching science and social studies and how to be a good friend. Sometimes, we will all be learning together, sometimes, you will be teaching me!
We will be adding an online learning component called SCHOOLOGY to our class environment. You will be able to access most of our assignments, tests, and writing this way. I will be using it during school and you will be able to access it online at home. We will not be sending the ipads home this year.
Start getting to bed a little earlier so you can wake up in time for a healthy breakfast. Please be on time and ready to learn. School starts at 9:00 and that's when I start teaching. Mornings are my favorite part of the day because I get to greet each of you at our outside door.
Back to School Breakfast will be Saturday, August 9 @ 9:00. Plan on coming with your parents and having breakfast. You can tour our classroom, sign up for Watchdogs, PTO and other exciting things. I will also be doing home visits on August 5 between 9-12.
I can't wait to see you bright and early Monday, August 11.
Headphones if you want your own. They need an Ljack to plug into the ipad, straight jacks break off and ruin the sound.
